Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.
To proceed: This is the two hundred and twenty-sixth session of the sessions known as the Open Door, which take place every Thursday, and this Thursday is the eleventh of the month of Dhul-Qa'dah of the year (1420 AH).
We used to begin this session by explaining verses from the Book of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, a good Book, a healing for what is in the breasts, and a guidance and mercy for the believers, but on the occasion of the approaching Hajj, we wanted to speak about what concerns the rituals,The conditions for the obligation of Hajj have been mentioned previously, and they are five: Islam, intellect, reaching maturity, freedom, and ability, and we explained what follows from these conditions when they are all present and when they differ.
Now, let us speak about the types of pilgrimage,So the types of pilgrimage, according to the order, are three: Tamattu', Qiran, and Ifrad.
As for tamattu': It is that one enters the state of ihram for 'Umrah in the months of Hajj and exits from it, then enters the state of ihram for Hajj in the same year,And the months of Hajj are: Shawwal, Dhul-Qa'dah, and Dhul-Hijjah.
An example of that is: A man entered the state of ihram for 'Umrah after the entry of the month of Shawwal, intending Hajj, so he performed the tawaf and sa'y and shortened his hair, then he remained in Makkah until the time of Hajj and performed Hajj.
And as for qiran, it has two descriptions: The first description: that one enters the state of ihram for both Hajj and 'Umrah,So he says: Labbaik 'Umrah and Hajj.
The second manner: That one enters the state of ihram for 'Umrah first, then adds Hajj to it before beginning his tawaf.
An example of this: A man entered the state of ihram for 'Umrah in the months of Hajj, and during the state of ihram, he intended to include Hajj with the 'Umrah before he began its tawaf, so there is no blame on him.
And as for Ifrad, it is: That one enters the state of ihram for Hajj alone from the very beginning,So he says: saying, "Labbaik Hajjan."
And the best of these types of pilgrimage is tamattu'; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered his companions to do so and made it obligatory upon them,And he said: (If I had known in advance what I know now, I would not have brought the sacrificial animals and I would have exited the state of ihram with you).
And tamattu' is: That one enters the state of ihram for 'Umrah in the months of Hajj and exits from it, then enters the state of ihram for Hajj in the same year.
This is the best, which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his companions were ordered to do, and it is also the easiest for the one obligated; because he exits the state of ihram completely between the 'Umrah and the Hajj, and this undoubtedly gives the person rest.
Third: That he obtains two independent pilgrimages: 'Umrah alone and Hajj alone, so if he arrives in Makkah on the eighth day,So it may be said: Either he is performing ifrad or he is performing qiran; because there is no time in which tamattu' can be achieved between the 'Umrah and the Hajj.
Then qiran follows tamattu'; because it involves combining the two pilgrimages, Hajj and 'Umrah, and it involves the sacrificial animal like tamattu'.
Then ifrad.
