A word by the Shaykh regarding the interpretation of the saying of Allah the Exalted: "Indeed, Allah has heard the statement of the one who argues with you concerning her husband and complains to Allah..."

The Shaykh : As for the second matter we will discuss, if Allah wills, before the topic of our lesson tonight, it is what we heard from the Book of Allah the Mighty and Majestic, which our imams recited first in the beginning of the Surah "Indeed, Allah has heard" and second in the beginning of the Surah "The Divorce." In the Surah "Indeed, Allah has heard," Allah the Mighty and Majestic says: [Al-Mujadila 58:1] This verse is about the story of a woman who came to complain to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about her husband when he pronounced zihar against her. Zihar, as they say, was a final divorce in the pre-Islamic age of ignorance. He pronounced zihar against her, considering that she had been finally divorced from him. So she came to complain to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and debated with him, meaning she argued with him about what had happened with her husband. And Allah the Mighty and Majestic informed in this statement that He had heard the statement of this woman who was debating with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and complaining to Allah the Mighty and Majestic. And Allah the Exalted answered her complaint and clarified the ruling on zihar afterwards. Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said, commenting on this verse: This is evidence of the vastness of the hearing of Allah the Mighty and Majestic and the vastness of all the attributes of Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, included in His saying: [Al-Baqarah 2:247] [An-Nisa 4:130] and the like. For all His attributes are vast, general, and comprehensive. So Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, heard the statement of this woman and heard her debate with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The second word, "Hears," came in the present tense form to describe the past state as if it were present now. And in this verse is evidence that Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, speaks with the Qur'an when it is revealed, because if Allah had spoken about a past matter using the past tense, that indicates that His speech was after that past matter. "Indeed, Allah has heard." There are many verses in this meaning, including His saying: [Ali 'Imran 3:121] and His saying: [Ali 'Imran 3:181] and His saying: [An-Nisa 4:108] and other numerous verses from which it is clearly and manifestly evident that Allah speaks with the Qur'an when it is revealed, so Jibril receives it and then brings it down upon the heart of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). As for His saying: the most correct opinion regarding it is that its meaning is that We began its revelation on the Night of Decree. For the revelation of the Qur'an to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began on the Night of Decree.
