The criterion for the hardship that permits combining the two prayers

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Your Eminence! The hadith traced back to 'Abdullah ibn 'Abbas, in which he said: (The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) combined the Dhuhr and 'Asr prayers, and the Maghrib and 'Isha' prayers, in Madinah, without fear or rain) They asked: What did he intend by that?He said: He intended not to cause hardship for his Ummah.
What is the criterion for defining the hardship referred to in this hadith that allows the Muslim to take advantage of this dispensation?

This hadith was narrated by Muslim from Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father): (That the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) combined the prayers in Madinah without fear or rain,They said: What did he intend by that?He said: He intended not to cause hardship for his Ummah) meaning: not to subject them to hardship.
So whenever there is hardship, and by hardship is meant difficulty, it is permissible to combine the prayers, whether in residence or in travel, due to illness, rain, severe cold wind, or the like. Even a pregnant woman, if it is difficult for her to pray each prayer at its time, may combine them. Even a nursing woman, if it is difficult for her to pray each prayer at its time because her child urinates on her or the like, she may combine them.Rather, the scholars said: Even if a baker is baking and fears that the bread will burn, and he is compelled to delay the prayer, he may combine it with the one that follows it as a combination of delay, and there is no harm in that.
So the criterion is difficulty, whether in the body, in wealth, in the family, or the like. Even if something is lost from you and you go to look for it, and you fear that the time will become too short, combine the prayers; combine the first with the second, or if you fear that you will travel a long distance, combine the second with the first. So the door of combining is wide, and praise be to Allah.
