The Ruling on Eating the Pre-Dawn Meal with the Second Adhan of Fajr

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Some of the elderly eat the pre-dawn meal while the mu'adhdhin is calling the Fajr prayer? The Shaykh: Why?The questioner: They say: because the white thread has not become distinct from the black thread.

The Shaykh: Yes, and if it does not become distinct for him until the time of Dhuhr, glory be to Allah! No,Tell him: this is forbidden for you, but praise be to Allah, if the mu'adhdhin is calling based on the calendar, the calendar has a five-minute advance for Fajr,As for saying: the white thread has not become distinct from the black thread, if his eyesight is weak, when will it become distinct.
But this is like the story of 'Adi ibn Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him), who was eating the pre-dawn meal and placed two straps—those used to tie a camel—one white and one black—under his pillow. Every time he ate, he looked at the straps and the white one had not become distinct, so he ate. When the white one became distinct, he stopped. He mentioned this to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said to him: (Indeed, your pillow is wide, for it accommodated the white thread and the black thread. That is the whiteness of the day and the darkness of the night) and he did not order him to repeat it because he was ignorant. So the important thing is to convey this—may Allah reward you with good—that it is obligatory for him to stop, and the most he can do, if the mu'adhdhin is calling based on the calendar, is that he may eat until the adhan is finished.

The questioner: From the moment the mu'adhdhin says "Allahu Akbar" he stops, or when he finishes the adhan? The Shaykh: No,I said: If he is calling based on the calendar, the calendar has a five-minute advance.
