The preference of performing the Eid prayer within the town due to an excuse or hardship
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
There is no doubt that performing the Eid prayer in the prayer ground is better, but if there is an excuse such as severe cold or rain, is it better to set up tents in the prayer ground, or to pray in the town?
It is better that we pray in the town, because establishing the Eid prayer in the town in the presence of an excuse is what the Sunnah has brought. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered 'Ali ibn Abi Talib to pray with those who were unable to pray in the prayer ground, in the same town. This is also because it involves less effort, and because it may be a hardship for people before they reach the tents. The prayer ground is not among the houses, so we say: A person leaves his house and goes directly to the tent; there must be a distance. This distance causes people harm and hardship.
