The Eid Prayer in the Mosque
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 18038 )
Q: Heavy rains fall in India , and because of this, Muslims are sometimes unable to perform the Eid prayer in the Eid prayer ground, so they perform the Eid prayer in the mosques . It has happened that some Muslims performed the Eid prayer in a mosque, and since the mosque is small and cannot accommodate all the worshippers, the imam performed the Eid prayer with a small group of worshippers, then the rest asked the imam to perform the Eid prayer with them a second time, so he performed it with them a second time, and this is what happens. Is this permissible, O honorable Shaykh? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.
A: The original ruling for the Eid prayer is that it is performed in the open desert outside of buildings, and there is no harm in performing it in the mosques due to the excuse. If the Eid prayer is missed with the imam, it is recommended to make it up in its proper form, in congregation or individually, without a sermon, and the imam does not repeat it with them.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
