The Doubt of Those Who Hold the Mawlid Out of Love for the Messenger of Allah and the Response to Them
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
As for those who celebrate the Mawlid, if it is out of love for the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), we say: There is no doubt that loving the Messenger is obligatory, and indeed, it is obligatory to prioritize his love over the love of oneself and all people; but is it part of loving him that we go ahead of him and legislate in his religion what is not part of it? No,Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says: [Al-Imran: 31] .
And Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, says: [Al-A'raf: 158] .
So the necessary consequence of sincere love is: that a person should not go ahead of the Messenger and introduce into his religion what is not part of it.
Then we say secondly: Are you, O you who celebrate the Mawlid of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), more loving of the Messenger of Allah than Abu Bakr, 'Umar, 'Uthman, 'Ali, the jurists of the Companions, the majority of them, the imams of the Tabi'un after them, and the Tabi'in of the Tabi'in?! If he says: Yes, then he is among the most lying of people,And if he said: No,We say: What was permissible for them is permissible for you. Did they hold a celebration for the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him)? Never. This celebration was not held until the fourth century of the Hijrah. So what was the matter with the Muslim community that they did not hold it before that? Were they ignorant of it, or were they opposing it knowingly, or was their love for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) deficient?! Then we say thirdly: If that is claimed on the basis that you are reviving the memory of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), we say to him: Is it not sufficient for you that you revive the memory of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in all your acts of worship? Every act of worship is a revival of the memory of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him);Because the condition of every act of worship is: 1- Sincerity.
2- Following the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).
So if you feel, while worshipping Allah the Exalted with these two conditions: Sincerity to Allah, and following [the Prophet], then this is a memory of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).
But unfortunately, many people today worship Allah with acts of worship as if this is the established norm, and few are aware that they are praying with sincerity to Allah and following the Messenger of Allah, or purifying themselves for that, or the like. Otherwise, every person who feels sincerity and following of the Messenger during worship, their worship is a revival of the memory of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).
Then we say: Indeed, Allah has prescribed for His servants what revives the memory of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in a way that is better than what you seek, better, more comprehensive, and more inclusive.
So the Muslims in every obligatory prayer declare with the highest possible voice: I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, in every Adhan, and it is not limited to one night of the year, but the whole year, but every day,And the Muslims in every prayer say: I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger.
So this is sufficient in reviving the memory of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family).
And this -I mean: following the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and adhering to his Sunnah - is the greatest proof of love for him, and the more a person follows the Messenger, the more he loves him, and the more he loves him, the more he follows him.
Say, [O Muhammad], "If you should love Allah, then follow me, [so] Allah will love you
قُلْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللَّهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللَّهُAnd Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, says:
So believe in Allah and His Messenger, the unlettered prophet, who believes in Allah and His words, and follow him that you may be guided.
So the necessary consequence of sincere love is: that a person should not go ahead of the Messenger and introduce into his religion what is not part of it.
