How is the love of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) realized?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : How is the love of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) realized?

The Shaykh : The love of the Messenger and the love of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) are realized by following the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). Whoever is most obedient to the Messenger of Allah is most deserving of the love of Allah the Exalted and the love of His Messenger. Allah the Exalted said:
Say, [O Muhammad], "If you should love Allah, then follow me, [so] Allah will love you قُلْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللَّهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللَّهُ
[Ali 'Imran 3:31]
The sign of loving the Messenger is that a person seeks out his Sunnah and follows it, without adding to it or subtracting from it. Accordingly, those who introduce religious innovations concerning the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), claiming that this is part of loving him and honoring him, have in fact not loved him nor honored him. This is because the reality of love and honor is to follow his tracks, and not to add to his Shari'ah or subtract from it. As for one who wishes to introduce into the Shari'ah of Allah what is not part of it, his love for Allah and His Messenger is deficient without a doubt, for the perfection of proper conduct and honor is not to precede Allah and His Messenger. Allah the Exalted said:
(1) O you who have believed, do not put [yourselves] before Allah and His Messenger but fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is Hearing and Knowing. (2) O you who have believed, do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet or be loud to him in speech like the loudness of some of you to others, lest your deeds become worthless while you perceive not.
[Al-Hujurat 49:1-2]
