Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (And in Moses, when We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority)]
We begin with what we have been accustomed to beginning with, which is the exegesis of the speech of Allah (Mighty and Majestic),where we had reached the saying of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He):
(38) And in Moses [was a sign], when We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority. (39) But he turned away with his supporters and said," A magician or a madman."
[Surat al-Dhariyat: 38-39] Meaning: In Moses are signs among the signs of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) when Allah the Exalted sent him to Pharaoh. Pharaoh was a title for whoever ruled Egypt, and he was a disbeliever. Moses is the son of Imran, the most excellent of the prophets of the Children of Israel, and he is in the third position of excellence among the five resolute prophets. The most excellent of them is Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), then Ibrahim, then Moses, then Nuh and Isa.
Allah the Exalted sent him with clear authority,Meaning: with a proof that is clear in itself and clarifies others. The signs brought by the prophets are clear and evident to every person of justice and fairness, and they are also clarifying of the truth of what the messengers brought. Therefore, know that whenever the word (clear) appears in the Qur'an as "al-Mubin," it means clear in itself and clarifying to others, except where the context indicates that the intended meaning is clear in itself.
when We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority.
[Adh-Dhariyat 51:38]
Among the great signs brought by Moses was the staff, the staff of Moses which he used to lean on when necessary, and to beat the leaves of trees with it for his sheep when they grazed, and he had other uses for it, as Allah said to Moses (peace be upon him) when He asked him:
(17) And what is that in your right hand, O Moses?" (18) He said, "It is my staff; I lean upon it, and I bring down leaves for my sheep and I have therein other uses."وَمَا تِلْكَ بِيَمِينِكَ يَا مُوسَى * قَالَ هِيَ عَصَايَ أَتَوَكَّأُ عَلَيْهَا وَأَهُشُّ بِهَا عَلَى غَنَمِي وَلِيَ فِيهَا مَآرِبُ أُخْرَى
[Surat Ta-Ha: 17-18] So it is a sign in that when he placed it on the ground, it became a clear serpent,Meaning: a great snake that frightens whoever sees it. For this reason, Moses (peace be upon him) was afraid of it when he threw it down and turned away fleeing,So Allah (Mighty and Majestic) called out to him:
Do not be afraid.
[Surat al-Naml: 10] .

And among them: He would put his hand in his sleeve and it would come out white immediately, white without any defect,Meaning: without any blemish. It was not white due to leprosy, but it was white, contrary to the color of his skin, immediately, in reality and not in imagination.

And Allah the Exalted said in Surat al-Isra:
And We had certainly given Moses nine evident signs
[Surat al-Isra: 101] The important point is that he came to Pharaoh with clear authority and a compelling, decisive proof, but he—seeking refuge in Allah—(turned away with his host) meaning: with his power, his authority, and his soldiers. He turned away from Moses out of arrogance, denial, injustice, and transgression,Allah the Exalted said:
And they rejected them, while their [inner] selves were convinced thereof, out of injustice and haughtiness
[Surat al-Naml: 14] .
