Exegesis of His saying, the Exalted: (So We seized him and his soldiers, and We cast them into the sea)
Allah the Exalted said: [Surat al-Dhariyat: 40] Meaning: We cast them into it,And the sea is: the sea, and the sea in which Pharaoh perished is the Red Sea between Asia and Africa. This is because Pharaoh gathered his soldiers and massed them, intending to destroy Moses and his people. So Moses and his people left Egypt heading east, but the sea stood between them and their destination. When they reached the sea, the sea was before them and Pharaoh and his people were behind them,So they said to Moses: [Surat al-Shu'ara: 61] Meaning: We are doomed; because Pharaoh was behind us and the sea was before us, so how could we be saved? So he said: [Surat al-Shu'ara: 62] This is a special presence that necessitates victory and support,And his statement: (He will guide me) and He did not say: He will guide me in the future,He said: "He will guide me" indicates the nearness of this encirclement and that it will be removed soon, and this is what happened. Allah the Exalted revealed to him to strike the sea with his staff, so he struck it, and it split into twelve paths immediately, dried up immediately, and became suitable for walking upon immediately,As Allah the Mighty and Majestic said: [Surat Ta-Ha: 77] .
So Moses and his people crossed through these great paths, where the water between them was like mountains. When they finished exiting, Pharaoh was in their pursuit, and when they finished entering, Allah the Mighty and Majestic commanded the sea, by His power and dominion, to return to what it had been, so it closed over Pharaoh and his people, and they perished entirely, and praise be to Allah,And for this he said: [Surat al-Dhariyat: 40] Meaning: Pharaoh did what he is blamed for, and there is no doubt that his rejection of the divine message and his claim to be the Lord, and his saying: [Surat al-Qasas: 38] and the like of those words, are undoubtedly words for which he is blamed; because the truth had become clear to him, but he was stubborn and refused to submit to the truth,As Moses said to him: Meaning: O Pharaoh [Surat al-Isra: 102] .
Allah the Exalted said:
So We took him and his soldiers and threw them into the sea
فَأَخَذْنَاهُ وَجُنُودَهُ فَنَبَذْنَاهُمْ فِي الْيَمِّIndeed, we are overtaken
إِنَّا لَمُدْرَكُونَNo! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me."
كَلَّا إِنَّ مَعِيَ رَبِّي سَيَهْدِينِand strike for them a dry path through the sea; you will not fear being overtaken [by Pharaoh] nor be afraid [of drowning]."
فَاضْرِبْ لَهُمْ طَرِيقاً فِي الْبَحْرِ يَبَساً لا تَخَافُ دَرَكاً وَلا تَخْشَىSo Moses and his people crossed through these great paths, where the water between them was like mountains. When they finished exiting, Pharaoh was in their pursuit, and when they finished entering, Allah the Mighty and Majestic commanded the sea, by His power and dominion, to return to what it had been, so it closed over Pharaoh and his people, and they perished entirely, and praise be to Allah,And for this he said:
