The Shaykh’s explanation of whether any of the Muslims today have fallen into shirk in the names and attributes

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Have the Muslims, or at least—and I seek Allah’s forgiveness for the expression—have at least some of the Muslims fallen into shirk in the names and attributes? I am sorry to say yes, it has happened. The evidence, perhaps at least some of you know, is a poem attributed to the poet al-Busiri: “Leave what the Christians claimed about their Prophet, *** And judge as you wish in it and appeal to it.” This is from his words, and the completion of his words is: “For from Your generosity are the world and its rival, *** And from Your knowledge is the knowledge of the Tablet and the Pen.”

The questioner : There is no god but Allah.

The Shaykh : What did he leave for his Lord? What did he leave for his Lord? First, “other than You ***” — the scholars of language call this a partitive “other than.” Like “the house of so-and-so,” what does that mean? This...

The questioner : ...

The Shaykh : “For from Your generosity are the world and its rival, *** And from Your knowledge is the knowledge of the Tablet and the Pen.” Here in these two verses are two very great misguidances. The first is that he said, “For from Your generosity are the world and its rival ***” It is true that the world has a rival, and it is true, what is the rival of the world? The Hereafter. Did the Messenger give the Hereafter? He gave the world, without doubt. The mountains of Mecca were offered to him to be made gold, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) consulted Jibril (peace be upon him), and he said to him:
Be a servant and a messenger
, and he was content with what he was upon. But to say in praise of the Messenger (peace be upon him), “For from Your generosity are the world and its rival ***” Allahu Akbar. Why were we created in the world? As He (the Exalted) said:
And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.
[Adh-Dhariyat 51:56]
So what is the outcome of this worship? Paradise. Allah (Mighty and Majestic) prepared it for the righteous. What is in Paradise? He (peace be upon him) said:
In Paradise is that which no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has conceived
Sunan ad-Darimi 20:110
What is in Paradise? He said:
(22) [Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant, (23) Looking at their Lord.
[Al-Qiyamah 75:22-23]
He (peace be upon him) said in some hadiths that when the believers see their Lord in Paradise, they forget all the pleasure of Paradise.

The questioner : There is no god but Allah.

The Shaykh : So the greatest blessing for the people of Paradise is that they see their Lord, as that noble, distinguished scholar-poet said:
“The believers see Him without how, *** Nor likening, nor making of an example.”
Does the Messenger of Allah turn away from the world and its rival, in which you have heard what you have heard? And the seeing of Allah in the Hereafter—we do not live in this world, and we do not weary ourselves and struggle with our lowliness except to hope to enter Paradise, perhaps that our Lord (Mighty and Majestic) will show us His noble Face. So he praises his Prophet by saying that he gave the world and the Hereafter. Then why did the Messenger live? Why did he call people and guide them to the straight path? It became for nothing? This is misguidance... The first part of this hem in the other part, which has to do with shirk in the attributes: “*** And from Your generosity is the knowledge of the Tablet and the Pen.” So it is necessary for every Muslim to make tawhid (the oneness of Allah) of Allah in His essence, and to make tawhid of Allah in His worship, and to make tawhid of Allah in His names and attributes. If he neglects any of these matters, he has not understood
So know that there is no deity except Allah
.

The questioner: Allah is the Greatest!
