The accountability of a person for the sins he has kept secret, not for the whispers of the self

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Among the supplications of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in his prostration was: (O Allah, forgive me all my sins, the small and the large, the first and the last, the public and the secret) Is a person held accountable for what he keeps secret in his heart?
He is held accountable for the sins he has kept secret from people, but as for the whispers of the self, it is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that they are forgiven,The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (Indeed, Allah has pardoned my nation for what their souls whisper to them, as long as they do not act upon it or speak of it) But the secret he keeps from people regarding sins is what he is held accountable for.
