Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He says: If a person has major sins upon him.

The Shaykh : If?

The questioner : If a person has major sins upon him and he performs Hajj, does Allah erase these sins from him after repentance? Please guide me. May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : Yes. If a person repents from his sins, even if he does not perform Hajj, and his repentance is sincere, then Allah will erase them completely. Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, said:
And those who do not invoke with Allah another deity or kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed], except by right, and do not commit unlawful sexual intercourse. And whoever should do that
[Al-Furqan 25:68]
meaning: he who kills a soul, meaning he who associates partners with Allah, or kills a soul, or commits unlawful sexual intercourse
will meet a penalty. (69) Multiplied for him is the punishment on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide therein humiliated - (70) Except for those who repent, believe and do righteous work. For them Allah will replace their evil deeds with good.
[Al-Furqan 25:68-70]
. So if you repent to Allah with sincere repentance, even if you do not perform Hajj, then Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, will erase your evil deeds.
