The Ruling on Seeking the Assistance of One Who Deals in Riba

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Your Eminence! There are bonds distributed from the price of wheat crops. One of the brothers has a bond from them with a high value, and he also has people asking him for a loan.So one of them said: Give me the bond and appoint me as your agent over it, and I will collect this debt in my own way and return the remainder to you. Is there anything wrong with this? The Shaykh: And he gives it to him.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: There is nothing wrong with it.

The questioner: Of course, if he gives him the bond and gives him agency, he pays it or does not pay it except through the bank.

The Shaykh: He will take the full amount in the bond.

The questioner: Through the bank, no; because they will take a fee from him.

The Shaykh: Yes, but I thought he had a limit with the responsible authorities, and it might affect him. The important thing is that if it does not result in riba, there is nothing wrong with it; that is, it is hiring.

The questioner: That is, we say: the riba is from him, not from me.

The Shaykh: No, if you know that he does not reach this except through riba, you have assisted him in sin,And Allah Mighty and Majestic says:
but do not cooperate in sin and aggressionوَلا تَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْأِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ
[Al-Ma'idah: 2] ;But I heard that they relaxed it somewhat and said: Whoever wants to convert, he must divide this amount,For example: He has one hundred thousand, and he has people asking him; one asks for ten thousand, another twenty, and a third thirty. He wants to convert this amount; he converts it to those who are asking him. There is nothing wrong with it; it is a relaxation for him.

The questioner: Does the bank take one hundred riyals for every check? The Shaykh: I have not heard of this; I only heard of dividing it to make it easier for people, and this is good and resolves some of the issue.
