The ruling on one who goes out for a leisure trip or whose residence is far enough to reach the distance for shortening prayers while traveling
May Allah forgive you! Some employees have workplaces that are more than one hundred kilometers from their homes, and likewise those who go out for a leisure trip and travel a distance of one hundred and fifty kilometers and return on the same day. Does shortening the time have an effect on not taking the dispensations of travel?

This issue: whoever defines the distance as eighty-three kilometers or so says: If these people go, even if it is for work and they return at the end of the day, they are travelers, and this is the prescribed view in the madhhab of Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him).

As for the one who said: It returns to custom and practice, so such a thing is not considered travel.

The questioner: What is your opinion regarding travelers who go for a leisure trip? The Shaykh: If you go out for a leisure trip, for example, for a day and return on the same day, it is travel according to the view that the criterion is custom, unless you stay there for a day or two, in which case such a thing is considered travel; because travel in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), as estimated by some scholars, was a distance of two days, and because if a person intends to stay there for a day or two,Meaning: two days or more, he must prepare the equipment for travel, so if you can determine this by custom, there is no harm, as it is closer to the truth, and if you cannot, as if the custom differs or is confused, or if you are in doubt, then take the distance, yes.
