The Student of Knowledge’s Attention to Spreading the Greeting

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
It is important for the student of knowledge to pay attention to spreading the greeting. Unfortunately, this trait is missing in many students of knowledge. You will find one passing by a brother among his colleagues or others without greeting him. This is a great affliction, because the greeting is the symbol of meeting among Muslims. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: (If you meet him, greet him) And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (By Allah, you will not enter Paradise until you believe, and you will not believe until you love one another. Shall I inform you of something that, if you do it, you will love one another? Spread the greeting among yourselves).
And it is astonishing that it is not hidden from students of knowledge that spreading the greeting is part of the Sunnah. And that there is a reward if you say: “Peace be upon you” brings ten good deeds, “and Allah’s mercy” brings twenty, and “and His blessings” brings thirty. Yet we see many students of knowledge meeting one another without some of them greeting others, whether the other is younger or older than them. This is an affliction that students of knowledge must eliminate. Let the student of knowledge know that people look at him with a look of imitation and a look of reproach. As for the look of imitation: For they imitate the student of knowledge in what he says and does and leaves.

And as for the reproach: For they reproach the student of knowledge if he leaves what should be done, or does what should be left. Perhaps a good deed by the student of knowledge becomes many good deeds, because people honor him for it and take him as an imam. And perhaps a bad deed becomes many bad deeds, because people reproach him, turn away from him, and he is deprived of the benefit of knowledge.
So you, my brother, student of knowledge! Fear Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and conduct yourself with the etiquettes of knowledge, and strive to spread knowledge as much as you can, and call to Allah with insight. May Allah guide us all to what He loves and is pleased with, for He is capable of all things.
