The Ruling on Multiplying Intentions in Voluntary Prayers

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
A person wants to pray a voluntary prayer and asks about those with specific causes; he wants to pray the sunnah of two rak'ahs? The Shaykh: For example? The questioner: For example: the sunnah of wudu' and the sunnah of Dhuhr, as well as the greeting of the mosque; is it permissible to combine the three?

The rule in this is: If we know that the Lawgiver only intended for us to pray, then if he prays with a single intention, that is sufficient. However, a prayer with a specific cause does not suffice for another specific cause. An example of that is: A man performed wudu' for the Dhuhr prayer after the Dhuhr adhan,So now he has two things before him, which are: the sunnah of wudu' and the rawatib of Dhuhr,So if he prays with the intention of the rawatib of Dhuhr, we say: Now the objective has been achieved. He has now prayed two rak'ahs, which also serve as the greeting of the mosque, which is a sunnah. So if a man enters the mosque after the Dhuhr adhan and prays the rawatib of Dhuhr, we say: the objective has been achieved; because you did not sit until you had prayed two rak'ahs. But if he intended the greeting of the mosque, the rawatib is not dropped. If he intended the specific cause, the other rawatib is not dropped. Its parallel is the farewell tawaf and the tawaf of ifadhah. If he performed tawaf when traveling and had not performed the tawaf of ifadhah, and he intended the farewell tawaf, the tawaf of ifadhah is not dropped. But if he intended the tawaf of ifadhah, the farewell tawaf is dropped.
