We begin this session, as is our custom, by discussing some of the noble verses to which we have arrived in our recitation, namely the saying of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He: [Al-Waqi'ah: 39-40] These are the people of the right hand, who are in the second rank, while the first rank is that of the foremost,Regarding whom Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Waqi'ah: 13-14] meaning: a group from the former of this Ummah, and a few from the latter. For the best of this Ummah are the best of its generations: the first generation, which is the generation of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), then the second, then the third, and then they diminish.
As for the people of the right hand: So Allah the Exalted said regarding them: [Al-Waqi'ah: 39-40] meaning: a group from these and a group from these.

ثُلَّةٌ مِنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ * وَقَلِيلٌ مِنَ الْآخِرِينَAs for the people of the right hand: So Allah the Exalted said regarding them:
