The Ruling on Bid in Sales

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
If a man said to another in a car auction: Leave this car and take this amount so that I can buy it?
It is the same as what we said before; it is not permissible for him, because this is like bidding against a Muslim’s sale, as it prevents the car owner from increasing the price.

The questioner: Even if the other person does not want the car?The Shaykh: Yes, if he does not want it, it is not permissible for him to increase the price, whether he is given compensation for it or not. No person who does not want the car is allowed to increase the price, except a man who sees that the price is low and that there is profit in it, so he increases it until it reaches an amount where he sees there is no profit in it, and then he leaves it; there is nothing wrong with that.
