Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (Then He will inform them of what they did on the Day of Resurrection)]
Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Mujadilah: 7] (inform them) means: He tells them what they did and brings them close to it. If he is a believer—may Allah make me and you among them—then Allah will be alone with him and will confront him with his sins,And he says: (You did such and such, and you did such and such, and you did such and such,So he says: Yes, my Lord,Allah the Exalted says: I concealed it from You in the worldly life, and I am forgiving it for you today) Praise be to Allah, and how many are the sins that Allah has concealed from us! How many are the sins we committed and Allah concealed! Had Allah willed, He could have exposed them and made them clear, displaying them on slips of the tongue and on faces. When a person among the Children of Israel committed a sin in his house, the sin would be written on his door in the morning, a disgrace and a shame. And this Ummah—praise be to Allah—Allah has covered with His concealment,For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (All my Ummah are forgiven except those who are open about their sins,They said: Who?He said: the one who commits a sin in secret and then rises to talk about it to the people) He called him a public sinner, even though he did it secretly; because he exposed it himself. Some people do this—may Allah protect us from it—out of boasting, especially those who travel during the holidays and commit zina there, commit sodomy, and drink intoxicants. They come to their companions and say: By Allah, the trip was fun and joy. They did such and such, committed zina with a woman or more or less, committed sodomy with such and such of the boys, and drank such and such of the intoxicants. These are public sinners, may Allah protect us from it. We ask Allah for well-being.
So Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, will be alone with His believing servant on the Day of Resurrection and will confront him with his sins,Then he says: (I concealed it from You in the worldly life, and I am forgiving it for you today) As for the disbeliever, he will not be reckoned with in this manner, nor will Allah look at him, but their deeds will be counted and exposed, and it will be called out over the heads of the witnesses: [Hud: 18] For this reason, the Mighty and Majestic did not say: Then He will punish them for what they did,He said: (inform them) And informing may be accompanied by punishment, or it may not be.
Allah the Exalted said:
Then He will inform them of what they did, on the Day of Resurrection
ثُمَّ يُنَبِّئُهُمْ بِمَا عَمِلُوا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِSo Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, will be alone with His believing servant on the Day of Resurrection and will confront him with his sins,Then he says: (I concealed it from You in the worldly life, and I am forgiving it for you today) As for the disbeliever, he will not be reckoned with in this manner, nor will Allah look at him, but their deeds will be counted and exposed, and it will be called out over the heads of the witnesses:
