Ruling on selling the purchased item before taking possession of it
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
What is the ruling on buying a car while it is in the showroom, and then another man coming and buying that same car before it has been moved?
This, may Allah bless you, is based on the issue: Is it permissible to sell goods in the place where they are located, or not? Some scholars say: It is permissible if the buyer takes possession of them, even if they remain in the same place. And some scholars say: This is specific to food, meaning: wheat, rice, and the like; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (Whoever sells food, let him not sell it until he takes possession of it) But the closer view is that it is general, and that it is not permissible for a person to sell the item in the place where he bought it, especially if there is a profit in it,For example: he bought it for a thousand and sold it for two thousand,And he said: The hadith was reported in this manner so that the first seller does not regret it and something remains in his heart regarding the buyer,So his soul says to him: This man deceived you, he bought it for a thousand, then look how he sold it for two thousand! Or for a thousand and one hundred, so that something remains in his heart,But if he sold it for the same price or less, they said: So there is no harm, even if it is in its place, and there is no doubt that scrupulousness and complete mindfulness of Allah is not to sell it until you bring it to your home.
