What is required for taking possession of the goods

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 19722 )
Q2: Is it required to take possession of the goods by bringing them into the warehouse, or is it sufficient for them to arrive in front of the institution's premises?
A2: Valid possession is achieved by transferring the goods from the seller's location to the buyer's location; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade selling goods where they were bought until the merchants take them to their dwellings, as narrated by Abu Dawud and al-Tirmidhi . Transferring them by the buyer to a place over which the seller has no authority is sufficient for this; based on the statement of Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both):
We used to buy food from troops of riders (i.e., the caravans) without knowing the amount, but the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade us to sell it until it had been delivered to us.كنا نشتري الطعام من الركبان جزافًا، فنهانا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أن نبيعه حتى ننقله من مكانه
Sunan Ibn Majah 2229Sahih (Darussalam)
In another narration:
During the time of Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) we used to buy grain, and he sent a man to us who ordered us to move it from the spot where we had bought it to some other place, before we sold itكنا في زمن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم نبتاع الطعام فيبعث علينا من يأمرنا بانتقاله من المكان الذي ابتعناه فيه إلى مكان سواه قبل أن نبيعه
Sunan Abi Dawud 3493Sahih (Al-Albani)
, and in another he said:
They used to buy food from the caravan drivers in the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he would send someone to prevent them from selling it where they bought it, until they moved it to where food is soldكانوا يشترون الطعام من الركبان على عهد النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فيبعث عليهم من يمنعهم أن يبيعوه حيث اشتروه، حتى ينقلوه حيث يباع الطعام
, and in another he said:
I saw people being beaten during the lifetime of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) in case they bought the foodgrain in bulk, and then sold them at that spot before taking it to their placesرأيت الناس في عهد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا ابتاعوا الطعام جزافًا يضربون أن يبيعوه في مكانه حتى يحولوه
Sahih Muslim 1527d
