Exegesis of His saying, the Exalted: (Those who are stingy and enjoin stinginess upon people)
Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, says: [Al-Hadid: 22-24] (They are stingy) means: they withhold what is obligatory for them to give, namely wealth, status, and knowledge.
Example of the first: The one who is stingy with zakah, which is the greatest and most obligatory of what is condemned, and with providing for those whose maintenance is obligatory upon him, such as relatives and wives.
And an example of the second: That a person finds a Muslim who is suffering from an injustice, where the situation requires him to intercede to remove this injustice, but he is stingy with his status.
And the third example: And it is stinginess with his knowledge, that he refuses to teach people what Allah the Mighty and Majestic has taught him, and that he is stingy with the answer and the fatwa when asked about a religious issue and it is incumbent upon him to issue a ruling on it, and in the hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) that he said: (The stingy one is the one who, when I am mentioned in his presence, does not send blessings upon me) May Allah send blessings and peace upon him, and this is a type of stinginess; because he is stingy with what is obligatory upon him, since the stronger position is: that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) is mentioned, it is obligatory for the one who hears it to send blessings upon him, by virtue of the hadith in the Sunan that Jibril said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family): (May the nose of the man be crushed who is mentioned in his presence and does not send blessings upon you. Say: Amen,So he said: Ameen") .
Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Hadid: 24] (They enjoin) means: these people say to the man: Do not spend from your wealth, for your wealth will decrease; do not trouble yourself in interceding for so-and-so; do not trouble yourself in teaching knowledge. These people enjoined them to be stingy, so they became—seeking refuge in Allah—corrupt and destructive.
Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said: [Al-Hadid: 24] means: he turns away from the obedience of Allah [Al-Hadid: 24] Whoever turns away, then Allah has no need of him, for He the Mighty and Majestic is rich in His essence, independent of all His creations, and He is (the Praiseworthy) meaning: the one who is praised for His richness; because not every rich person is praised, for the rich stingy person is not praised, but Allah the Mighty and Majestic is rich and praiseworthy, praised for His richness; for He the Mighty and Majestic is vast and abundant in giving.
And in this verse is evidence that the person who turns away from the obedience of Allah only harms himself and does not harm Allah in any way, for Allah is rich,And in the Qudsi Hadith: (O My servants! If the first of you and the last of you, and your humans and your jinn, were upon the most sinful heart of one man among you, that would not decrease My dominion in anything) .
Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, says:
(22) No disaster strikes upon the earth or among yourselves except that it is in a register before We bring it into being - indeed that, for Allah, is easy - (23) In order that you not despair over what has eluded you and not exult [in pride] over what He has given you. And Allah does not like everyone self-deluded and boastful - (24) [Those] who are stingy and enjoin upon people stinginess. And whoever turns away - then indeed, Allah is the Free of need, the Praiseworthy.
