The Sixth: That the act of worship conforms to the Shari'ah in its place

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : As for the place, how do you visualize this issue regarding the place?

The questioner : Tawaf, for example, is one case. That is, someone sees a dome and goes to perform tawaf around it instead of the Ka'bah.

The Shaykh : That is, we say this person performed tawaf in a room other than the Ka'bah, but I do not know if this analogy is valid or not. If we take the example of a man who says, "It is a recommended practice (sunnah) to perform i'tikaf in the last ten nights, and I have an apartment where no one is present, so I will perform i'tikaf in the apartment instead of the mosque." He performs i'tikaf for all the last ten nights, no one comes to see him, and he is fully devoted to the worship of Allah, calling upon Allah, praying, and reciting the Qur'an, completely devoted just as the one in i'tikaf is, but he is in an apartment. Is his i'tikaf valid or not? It is contrary to the Shari'ah in what? In the place. Now, he is in the last ten nights of Ramadan, and even if he is in the last ten nights of Ramadan, it is still contrary because the place is different. Allah the Exalted said:
as long as you are staying for worship in the mosques وأنتم عاكفون في المساجد
[Al-Baqarah 2:187]
Now pay attention to the six matters without which following the Prophet is not achieved. Who can count them for us? May Allah reward you with good.

The questioner : The cause.

The Shaykh : That it conforms to the Shari'ah in its cause.

The questioner : Its place.

The Shaykh : Its type, first.

The questioner : Its type, its amount.

The Shaykh : And its manner, its time, and its place. Now, be patient, I want to apply this to the 'Umrah that some people specifically perform on this night. You say it is contrary to the Shari'ah in its time. It tells you that the Shari'ah has not forbidden performing 'Umrah on the twenty-seventh night.

The questioner : In its cause.

The Shaykh : In its cause. Yes, it is a contradiction in the cause. That is, the twenty-seventh night is not a cause for 'Umrah. The cause is Ramadan. As for the twenty-seventh night or the Night of Decree, that is a cause for standing in prayer. Whoever stands in prayer on the Night of Decree with faith and seeking reward.
