The Shaykh’s advice not to be strict in criticizing the imams who say takbir during the prostration of recitation
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And I want to say something that serves as a completion of the previous discussion, so that no one might correct us or misunderstand what they might correct us on. I know, after this previous explanation, that it was reported from Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) We do not be harsh with them in that; because they have predecessors, and this is 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud. But if we feel that this imam or that one has the capacity to accept the Sunnah, we explain the matter to him in the manner of the previous explanation. If he responds, that is good and excellent, and the matter is as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih al-Bukhari 6098 And if he does not respond and remains on his opinion, it is sufficient for us to mention that if we were to criticize him, we would be criticizing 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud. We are not in a position or a stance where we can criticize or object to a noble Companion. It is sufficient for us to say that this is what has become clear to us from the Sunnah, and he is a noble Companion who holds this opinion. The Companions differed on many issues, so we do not put them in a difficult position regarding this difference. But we always and forever try to act according to the Sunnah as much as we are able to do so. Please proceed.
