The ruling on saying takbir for prostration of recitation in prayer.
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And I want to say something that serves as a completion of the previous discussion, so that no one might point out an oversight to us or misunderstand what they might point out. I know, after this previous explanation, that it was reported from Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he used to say takbir for the prostration of recitation. Therefore, I do not say "we," but rather I say personally, because I am the one who understands this understanding, that we do not cause difficulty, do not be overly strict, and do not impose strictness on the imams who, when they perform the prostration of recitation in prayer, say takbir. We do not be strict with them in this matter because they have predecessors, and this is 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud. However, if we feel that this imam or that one has the capacity to accept the Sunnah, we explain the matter to him in the manner of the previous explanation. If he responds, that is good and excellent, and the matter is as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih al-Bukhari 6098. And if he does not respond and remains with his opinion, it is sufficient for us to mention that if we were to criticize him, we would be criticizing 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, and we are not in a position or situation where we can criticize or object to a noble Companion. It is sufficient for us to say: This is what has become clear to us from the Sunnah, and this noble Companion holds this opinion. The Companions differed on many issues, so we do not cause them difficulty with this difference. But we always and forever try to act according to the Sunnah as much as we are able to do so.
