It is stated in the hadith: (It is not befitting for a Prophet to enter a decorated house). Is this a ruling specific to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), or is it general for all people?

The questioner : My Shaykh, this is the second time I am asking about this same hadith, the one where I was not going to enter a decorated house,
Narrated Ali ibn AbuTalib: Safinah AbuAbdurRahman said that a man prepared food for Ali ibn AbuTalib who was his guest, and Fatimah said: I wish we had invited the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and he had eaten with us. They invited him, and when he came he put his hands on the side-ports of the door, but when he saw the figured curtain which had been put at the end of the house, he went away. So Fatimah said to Ali: Follow him and see what turned him back. I (Ali) followed him and asked: What turned you back, Messenger of Allah? He replied: It is not fitting for me or for any Prophet to enter a house which is decorated. ما كان لنبيٍّ أن يدخل بيتًا مزوق
Sunan Abi Dawud 3755Hasan (Al-Albani)

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : Could it be restricted to the Prophets, meaning because of the second narration, or is it general for all of us?

The Shaykh : No, the hadith in its wording is about the Prophets, but if you take the verse:
There has certainly been for you لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ
[Al-Ahzab 33:21]
.

The questioner :
in the Messenger of Allah an excellent pattern فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ
[Al-Ahzab 33:21]
.

The Shaykh : Then the ruling becomes general.

The questioner : Because the adornment mentioned in the hadith in its entirety is very simple; it is not the adornment that exists now.

The Shaykh : Allahu Akbar! The adornment that exists today may fall under extravagance, waste, and squandering of wealth, which goes beyond this hadith where the Prophet elevates himself. Elevating himself does not mean that it is forbidden for him, but it is not befitting his status. And the Muslim, as the old poet said:
"So imitate them, even if you are not like them, *** For imitating the noble ones is success."
So the Muslim also follows the Messenger in elevating himself, but when the matter reaches the adornment that exists today, it is undoubtedly included in extravagance and waste.
