A word by the Shaykh regarding repentance and the meaning of repentance.

The Shaykh : Then we enter into the main topic of this session, and we say that repentance is returning to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) from His disobedience to His obedience. Repentance is returning to Allah from His disobedience to His obedience, whether that is turning away from something forbidden or performing an obligatory duty. For sins are either the neglect of obligatory duties or the commission of forbidden acts. All sins revolve around these two matters: either the neglect of obligatory duties or the commission of forbidden acts. So repentance is returning to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) from His disobedience to His obedience.
