Is it permissible for a husband to sit with his friends in the company of his wife? And what are the conditions for that?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Sitting with friends and their wives, are there specific conditions we must observe...? Professor?

The Shaykh : First: Islam does not approve of this kind of sitting, because it is a type of free mixing of men and women.
The Shaykh : Second: If it is absolutely necessary, the conditions are, of course, known, but adhering to them is difficult.
The Shaykh : Among the conditions are those we mentioned earlier:
The Shaykh : 1 - Each woman must be covered with the prescribed hijab, meaning: she should not be wearing bright, beautiful clothes that attract attention, as is the case with women in their homes. Also, these clothes should not be tight, short, or form-fitting on the legs or thighs, or similar. The important thing is that the conditions of the hijab that I mentioned in the introduction of my book "The Hijab of the Muslim Woman" are present in their clothing.
The Shaykh : 2 - Add to this: The conversation in that gathering must be full of modesty, proper conduct, and dignity, such that the conversation does not lead any of the men present, let alone the women, to smile, laugh, or burst out laughing.
The Shaykh : If the conversation meets this condition or these conditions, then the sitting is permissible if there is a need for it. But in my opinion, fulfilling these conditions, especially in our time, is almost impossible, because, unfortunately, most Muslims today do not know the Islamic legal rulings—what is permissible and what is not. And of those who know the Islamic legal rulings, very few are committed to and apply these rulings. Therefore, I do not imagine a gathering held among relatives where all these conditions are met; that is purely imaginary. And so the matter is as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
And between them are matters about which people are in doubt, and most people do not know them. So whoever guards against the doubtful matters has protected his religion and his honor. Verily, every king has a protected area, and verily, the protected area of Allah is His prohibitions. Verily, whoever encroaches upon the protected area is likely to fall into it.
From this hadith, some people in the past took a common proverb: "Stay away from evil and sing for it." This is a common wisdom... .. And the second proverb: "This one does not want to see the dreams of a man who is in trouble, so he does not sleep between the graves." That is how it is.
