Muslims are bound by their conditions

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: I had agreed with my wife's father that after the marriage I would live near them, but after I got married, I was forced to live far away from them in another country. Due to my living and work circumstances, my wife agreed to move with me, but her father strongly refused. In this case, have I broken the agreement and am I sinful, given that my wife does not object? Please give us a ruling, and may Allah reward you.

Answer: If your wife is satisfied, there is nothing wrong with moving with her. However, if she is not satisfied, Muslims are bound by their conditions. If she is satisfied, you may move, and neither her mother nor her father has the right to prevent her from doing so, because you may need her, so there is no blame on you. But if she stays with her parents and you wish to fulfill the condition, you must fulfill the condition; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Muslims are bound by their conditionsالمسلمون على شروطهم
, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Indeed the conditions most deserving to be fulfilled are those that make the private parts lawful among you.إن أحق الشروط أن يوفى بها ما استحللتم به الفروج
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1127Sahih (Darussalam)
, which is agreed upon as authentic.
