The questioner : Another question says: In the hadith regarding isbal, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Umm Salama:
Add a forearm زدن ذراعا
Is it from the ankles or from the middle of the lower leg?

The Shaykh : The forearm is the equivalent of two handspans. One handspan is to cover the awrah (the part of the body that must be covered), and the second handspan is to prevent the prohibited matter that might result from the wind.

The questioner : From the middle of the lower leg?

The Shaykh : Yes?

The questioner : From the middle of the lower leg?

The Shaykh : Yes... How did you say it?

The questioner : From the middle of the lower leg.

The Shaykh : What do you mean by from the middle of the lower leg?

The questioner : The forearm?

The Shaykh : The forearm, yes.
