A man has money that is a mixture of lawful and unlawful; is it permissible for his sons to eat from this money?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The questioner says: A father has money that has been mixed with unlawful money; is it permissible for his sons to eat from this money?

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.

The questioner : Shall I repeat the question?

The Shaykh : ... I understood the question: a son lives with his father, and his money is a mixture of unlawful and lawful. In my view, there is a detailed ruling in this matter, and I think this detail was mentioned previously in another issue. If the lawful money is the majority over the unlawful, it is permissible; if the reverse is the case, it is not permissible. And if it is not known which is the majority and which is the minority, then the chapter of scrupulousness applies, based on his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
Both lawful (Halal) and unlawful things (Haram) are evident but in between them there are doubtful things·and most people have no knowledge about them. So he, who saves himself from these doubtful things, saves his religion and his honor إن الحلال بين الحرام بني وبينهما أمور مشتبهات لا يعلمهن كثير من الناس فمن اتقى الشبهات فقد استبرأ لدينه وعرضه
Bulugh al-Maram 16:32
Also, his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
Leave that which makes you doubt for that which does not make you doubt. دع ما يريبك إلى ما لا يريبك
