A man who experiences nocturnal emission multiple times in Ramadan and prays without performing the ritual bath out of shyness toward his family, then performs the bath and repeats the prayer: what is the ruling on his action, does he bear any responsibility, and does nocturnal emission break the fast during the day in Ramadan?

The questioner : A young man says: I experienced nocturnal emission more than once during the month of Ramadan. Because I was shy to enter the bathroom and perform the ritual bath in front of my family, I prayed in that state, while in a state of ritual impurity from the nocturnal emission.

The Shaykh : I seek refuge in Allah.

The questioner : Then I performed the ritual bath and made up the prayers. What is the ruling on this situation of mine? Do I bear any responsibility? And does nocturnal emission break the fast in the month of Ramadan?

The Shaykh : As for nocturnal emission in the month of Ramadan, it does not break the fast.
As for delaying the ritual bath out of shyness toward people, this is a mistake. The one who does this should seek forgiveness from Allah the Exalted and repent to Him, and not return to such an act. Indeed, Allah is not shy of the truth, and no one was more shy than the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), yet sometimes he would go out to his Companions with his head dripping water from the ritual bath. This is something with which there is no harm, and it is an occurrence that happens to everyone. So this young man should seek forgiveness from Allah and repent to Him for what he did. I hope that the prayers he made up are sufficient. Yes.
