A person who is unable to fast because he is suffering from an illness that is not expected to end, and in this year he paid the fidyah in money before the month of Ramadan, is his action valid?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He says: Noble Shaykh, a person is unable to fast because he is suffering from an illness that is not expected to end. In this year, he paid the fidyah in money before the month of Ramadan. Is his action valid? If it is not valid, what is required of him now?

The Shaykh : The money he paid before Ramadan is charity for which he will be rewarded, if Allah wills. However, it does not suffice for the fast for two reasons: The first reason is that the time for fasting had not yet arrived. The second reason is that he paid it in money. The obligatory requirement is that the fidyah be food for a poor person, food for a poor person, as Allah the Mighty and Majestic said:
And upon those who are able [to fast, but with hardship] - a ransom [as substitute] of feeding a poor person وَعَلَى الَّذِينَ يُطِيقُونَهُ فِدْيَةٌ طَعَامُ مِسْكِينٍ
[Al-Baqarah 2:184]
. So we tell the brother who paid the money before the entry of Ramadan: it is charity, and now pay for food. In fact, feed twenty-nine poor people now, either by gathering them for lunch or dinner, or even if they are separate, for example. If you prepare food, dinner or lunch, for five people, then for five on the second day, then for five on the third day until you complete the number, there is no harm. Otherwise, give them something other than food, meaning grain. The amount for each poor person is approximately one kilogram of rice, and by that, the obligation is discharged. Yes.
