What is the ruling on what some people, or most people, do, namely that when one of them wants to get married or build a house or something else, he borrows a car for a specific term

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : A similar question asks: May the Shaykh be honored. What is the ruling on what some people, or most people, do, namely that when one of them wants to get married or build a house or something else, he borrows a car for a specific term. Then he sells it for cash at the showroom where he bought it, but not to the one from whom he bought it, because he needs the cash. Is there any type of riba (usury or interest) or deception involved in this? May Allah guide you and make your knowledge beneficial?

The Shaykh : According to Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, this is riba (usury or interest), but through a deceptive method. For this reason, he was strict about it and said: It is forbidden. His student Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on them both) said: "Our Shaykh was repeatedly asked to reconsider this matter—meaning, perhaps he would issue a ruling permitting it—but he refused to issue a ruling except that it is forbidden". Some scholars say: If a person is truly in need, and the car belongs to the seller, and he goes to him and buys it from him for one hundred when it is worth eighty, in order to sell it for eighty and benefit from its price, then there is no harm in this, on the condition that he does not sell it to the one from whom he bought it. Because if he sold it to the one from whom he bought it for less, this would become the issue of 'inah (a buy-back sale used to disguise a loan), which is forbidden. We see that if a person is compelled to do this out of dire necessity, such that it is unavoidable, for example, if he has started building a house and thought the funds he had would be sufficient but they were not, this is a dire necessity. However, it is necessary that he finds no one to lend him a loan, and that he finds no one to sell to him via salam (a forward sale paid in advance), and that the goods are with the seller. If he is compelled to do this, I hope there is no harm in it. Yes.

The questioner : May the Shaykh be protected by Allah from all evil. I tell you, O Shaykh, I have a young relative who joined the military. When he joined, something happened to him; he began not to know what was going on, as if he had been struck with madness. After that, they did not leave a reciter without going to him, but we did not see any improvement in him.

The Shaykh : May Allah heal him.

The questioner : He remained in this state, meaning this illness, for three years. Then, a place outside the Kingdom was mentioned to his family where there is a reciter who knows how to recite. But it is said, O Shaykh, that he must use jinn (the jinn) in this. It is also said about him that the jinn do not want him to slaughter for anyone other than Allah. But it is mentioned that he is a Muslim and they do not see anything in him except this. What is your opinion on this, O Shaykh, may Allah protect you? Should they go to him? Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : My opinion in this matter is to ask Allah for his immediate healing. O Allah, heal him with an immediate healing and magnify the reward of his family, for You are capable of all things.
