The questioner : Is it permissible for women to pray behind men in the prayer for rain? And is it prescribed or prohibited? What are the narrations regarding this? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : Yes, it is permissible for a woman to go out to the Eid prayer area and pray the prayer for rain with the people, but she must be behind the men. The further she is from the men, the better, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
the best of the women’s rows is the last and the worst of them is the first خير صفوف النساء ءاخرها، وشرها أولها
Sunan Abi Dawud 678Sahih (Al-Albani)
It is also established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding the Eid prayer:
That he ordered the women to go out to attend the good and the supplication of the Muslims, and he ordered the menstruating women to stay away from the prayer area. أنه أمر النساء بأن يخرجن يحضرن الخير ودعوة المسلمين، وأمر الحيّض بأن يعتزلن المصلى
So, if a woman goes out to the prayer for rain to attend the supplication of the Muslims and seek good, there is no blame on her for that. However, it is obligatory that she not be displaying her adornment or wearing perfume. Here is a matter that requires attention: when women pray in the mosques with the congregation, you find some of them praying alone behind the rows, and they do not consider the rows to be a matter of importance. This is contrary to the Sunnah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The best rows for women خير صفوف النساء
He clarified that women have rows, and he said:
The prayer of a person who prays alone behind the row is not accepted. لا صلاة لمنفرد خلف الصف
Bulugh al-Maram 2:327
Yes.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
