Is it permissible to eat with one who abandons prayer?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is it permissible to eat with one who abandons prayer, and is it best to give the answer in detail?

The Shaykh : As for one who abandons prayer, as we have mentioned repeatedly, the scholars have differed regarding his ruling. Some said: He is an open sinner and is killed as a fixed punishment. Some said: He is a disbeliever whose disbelief takes him out of the religion; he is given the opportunity to repent, and if he does not repent, he is killed. This is the stronger position, indicated by the texts of the Book, the Sunnah, and the reports from the Companions. We have explained these proofs in previous episodes and clarified that there is nothing to contradict them. The hadiths cited by those who say that one who abandons prayer is not a disbeliever are free of one of four conditions: either they contain no indication at all, or they are restricted by a condition under which abandoning prayer is not possible, or they were revealed in a state where a person is excused for abandoning prayer because knowledge had been lost, or they are general, while the texts regarding the disbelief of one who abandons prayer are specific. It is known to the scholars of knowledge that the general is specified by the specific, so these general proofs include everyone other than one who abandons prayer. If one who abandons prayer is an apostate and a disbeliever, then it is not permissible for anyone to reside with him; rather, it is obligatory to boycott him, except if a person encounters him for the purpose of calling him to the truth and to Islam. That is one thing, while sitting with him, enjoying his company, and feeling at ease with him is another. And Allah the Exalted said in the Noble Qur'an:
You will not find a people who believe in Allah and the Last Day having affection for those who oppose Allah and His Messenger, even if they were their fathers or their sons or their brothers or their kindred. Those - He has decreed within their hearts faith and supported them with spirit from Him. And We will admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally. Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him - those are the party of Allah. Unquestionably, the party of Allah - they are the successful.
[Al-Mujadila 58:22]
So do not sit with one who abandons prayer, do not greet him, and do not feel at ease with him, unless you are doing so to call him to Islam, perhaps Allah the Exalted will guide him through you. Indeed, if Allah guides a person through one's hands, that is better for him than red camels. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you. A message from Algeria from the listener Al-Bu'ashiri al-Sahabi. He says in his message.
