The questioner : He says: With the abundance of my recitation of the Noble Qur'an, and praise be to Allah, when I enter the restroom, I find myself, without realizing it, reciting in my heart some of the verses that have stuck in my mind. What is the ruling on that, Shaykh Muhammad?
The Shaykh : The scholars have stated that it is not permissible for a person to recite the Qur'an while sitting to relieve himself, because that constitutes a form of disrespect for it. Therefore, you must be careful and enter this place while fully aware, understanding what you are saying, so that obsessive thoughts do not lead you to recite something from the Qur'an. In other words, I say: control yourself when you enter this place so that you do not recite anything from the Book of Allah (Mighty and Majestic).
The questioner : May Allah reward you, O Shaykh Muhammad, and may He magnify your reward.
