The questioner : In the book: “Tanbih al-Ghafilin”, the hadith: Is this hadith authentic?
The Shaykh : This is not correct, and the sign of fabrication is clearly apparent on this hadith. The book the questioner referred to, "Tanbih al-Ghafilin", is one of the books of admonition that contain both chaff and grain, as well as authentic, good, weak, and fabricated narrations. The authors of these books bring weak or fabricated hadiths out of good intention to soften people's hearts and frighten them of the wrath of Allah (Mighty and Majestic).
This approach is not correct, for people are sufficiently provided with the admonitions in the Book of Allah and what is authentic from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding them, which is sufficient for the reform of the hearts. If the preachers had limited their admonition to what came in the Book of Allah and what is authentic in the Sunnah from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), that would have been sufficient and adequate for everything else,[An-Nisa 4:66].
The Noble Qur’an is entirely admonition, healing, clarification, and guidance, as Allah the Exalted said:[Yunus 10:57] As for what came in the books of admonition in the form of weak and fabricated hadiths, it is an action resulting from independent legal reasoning, but it is not an action for which its doer is praised. However, forgiveness and pardon from Allah (Mighty and Majestic) are hoped for him, given his good intention.
Whoever says *La ilaha illa Allah* from his heart, pure and sincere, and magnifies it, Allah will forgive him four thousand sins from the major sins
