What is the ruling on raising the hands in prayer, and when are they raised at the takbirs other than the takbir of ihram?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : What is the ruling on raising the hands in prayer, and when are they raised at the takbirs other than the takbir of ihram?

The Shaykh : Raising the hands occurs in four places:
At the takbir of ihram, at the bowing, when rising from the bowing, and when standing up from the first tashahhud. The beginning of the raising coincides with the beginning of the takbir. One may raise the hands and then say the takbir, or say the takbir and then raise the hands, for the Sunnah has come in both ways.
As for the bowing, when one intends to lower oneself into the bowing, he raises his hands and then lowers himself, placing his hands on his knees. When rising from the bowing, he raises his hands from his knees and continues to hold them raised until he is fully standing, then he places them on his chest. And when standing up from the first tashahhud, when he stands, he raises his hands to the level of his shoulders, just as he does at the takbir of ihram. Other than these four places, he does not raise his hands.
As for raising the hands in the funeral prayer, it is prescribed at every takbir, as this is authentically reported from 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar in his practice. In fact, it has been narrated from him as marfu' (traced to the Prophet) to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with a chain that is acceptable upon examination. Therefore, what is prescribed is for a person to raise his hands at all the takbirs of the funeral prayer, including the first takbir and the others.
