Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : This is a listener to the program, a follower of the program, who symbolized his name with the letter A or R from Egypt. He says: What is the ruling on a woman who recites the Qur'an through a microphone in mourning gatherings? May you be rewarded?

The Shaykh : First, mourning gatherings are a religious innovation (bid'ah) that contradicts the way of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), his Companions, and the leaders of the Muslims. They involve wasting time and wasting money. Sometimes money is taken from the deceased's estate, and if he has dependents, it is taken from their inheritance. Sometimes there is wailing and other things that Allah has forbidden through the tongue of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).
Therefore, the duty of a person upon calamity is to be patient and to seek reward from Allah, and to say what the patient ones said: "Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we return. O Allah, reward me in my calamity and replace for me something better than it." If he says that, Allah will reward him in his calamity and replace for him something better than it.
For this reason, I advise my Muslim brothers in all parts of the earth to repent to Allah from these mourning gatherings and holding them, and to be patient and seek reward. Reciting the Qur'an in these mourning gatherings, whether by a woman or a man, is a religious innovation (bid'ah). Taking money for it is consuming wealth unjustly, so it is not permissible to take money for this recitation. One is forbidden from reciting in these places because it was not reported from the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them).
In conclusion, we say that all mourning gatherings are a religious innovation (bid'ah) that must be abolished. Second, reciting in them for a fee is forbidden (haram) and invalid, and there is no reward in it, whether the reciter is a man or a woman. The matter is doubled if the reciter is a woman. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you, O honorable Shaykh, and may Allah magnify your reward for what you have clarified for us and for the honorable brothers among the listeners.
Our noble brothers.
