On Thursday, before the 'Isha' prayer, the mu'adhdhin in the mosque performs praise of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and supplication

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : On Thursday, before the 'Isha' prayer, the mu'adhdhin in the mosque says, or the mu'adhdhin in the mosque performs praise of the Messenger and supplication, and he often recites from the poetry of the Sufis in this praise, such as their saying: "O beloved of creation, I have no one but You". May Allah reward you with good and benefit you with your knowledge?

The Shaykh : This practice is undoubtedly a blameworthy religious innovation (bid'ah) from which it is obligatory to forbid and distance oneself, because it was not transmitted in the Book of Allah or the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), nor in the Sunnah of the Rightly Guided Caliphs. And whatever is other than that is a religious innovation (bid'ah). If it had been good, they would have preceded us to it. We know and we bear witness to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) that we are not more eager than the Companions in worshipping Allah (Mighty and Majestic), nor are we more knowledgeable of what Allah loves than the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), nor are we more reverent toward Allah than the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). These are established matters in which no one disputes. And if these matters are established, and the Companions did not do anything except what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) legislated, then we know that the good lies in following them, as Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said:
And the first forerunners [in the faith] among the Muhajireen and the Ansar and those who followed them with good conduct - Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him
[At-Tawbah 9:100]
It is obligatory for all Muslims to seek the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Rightly Guided Caliphs, and to follow it, and to distance themselves from religious innovations (bid'ah) which do not increase them in anything from Allah except distance, along with the hardship and difficulty in them and the corruption of hearts. Then, in this poem that the questioner referred to, there is shirk (associating partners with Allah) with Allah (Mighty and Majestic), rather, it is forgetting Allah (Mighty and Majestic), as in his saying: "O beloved of creation! I have no one but You." Where is Allah? This man who addresses the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) by saying he has no one but him means that he has forgotten Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and that Allah the Exalted is, in his view, nothing, and that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is the one who benefits and harms, and the one who is called upon and sought for aid. This is undoubtedly major shirk (shirk akbar) that expels one from the religion. So whoever says it believing its meaning, his prayer, zakah, fasting, and Hajj are not accepted from him, and his deeds are returned to him until he repents to Allah.
And it is obligatory for Muslims to know the matter as it is, and that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is a slave and a Messenger, and that the most noble of his descriptions is that he is a slave and a Messenger, and that he has no right to any of the attributes of Lordship. Rather, Allah said to him, commanding him:
Say, [O Muhammad], "I do not tell you that I have the depositories [containing the provision] of Allah or that I know the unseen, nor do I tell you that I am an angel. I only follow what is revealed to me."
[Al-An'am 6:50]
So Allah commanded him to deny that for himself and to make it clear that he is a commanded slave who obeys:
I only follow what is revealed to me.
[Al-An'am 6:50]
And Allah the Exalted said to him:
(21) Say, "Indeed, I do not possess for you [the power of] harm or right direction." (22) Say, "Indeed, there will never protect me from Allah anyone [if I should disobey], nor will I find in other than Him a refuge. (23) But [I have for you] only notification from Allah, and His messages."
[Al-Jinn 72:21-23]
So Allah commanded him to say:
He does not possess for anyone harm or guidance
Rather, he himself does not possess the ability to defend himself:
Say, "Indeed, there will never protect me from Allah anyone [if I should disobey], nor will I find in other than Him a refuge. قُلْ إِنِّي لَنْ يُجِيرَنِي مِنَ اللَّهِ أَحَدٌ وَلَنْ أَجِدَ مِنْ دُونِهِ مُلْتَحَدًا
[Al-Jinn 72:22]
And to make it clear to the people that he is nothing but a Messenger who conveys the message of his Lord:
But [I have for you] only notification from Allah, and His messages
[Al-Jinn 72:23]
The exception here is disconnected, so
Except
in it means "but."
And Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said, commanding him also:
Say, "I hold not for myself [the power of] benefit or harm, except what Allah has willed. And if I knew the unseen, I could have acquired much wealth, and no harm would have touched me. I am not except a warner and a bringer of good tidings to a people who believe."
[Al-A'raf 7:188]
And the verses in this meaning are many, and the events that occurred during the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that indicate that he does not possess benefit or harm for himself, nor does he know the unseen, are also many.
So the believer must fear Allah (Mighty and Majestic) regarding himself and regarding the Messenger and his beloved (peace and blessings be upon him), and he must know that this exaggeration (ghuluw) in the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is among the things that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) dislikes and does not approve of, rather he forbids it (peace and blessings be upon him). And if he is sincere in his love of Allah and His Messenger, let him follow the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) in what came from his Shari'ah, without excess or deficiency. Allah the Exalted says:
Say, [O Muhammad], "If you should love Allah, then follow me, [so] Allah will love you and forgive you your sins قُلْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللَّهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللَّهُ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ
[Ali 'Imran 3:31]

And a person feels regret when he hears what happens in many Islamic lands regarding the exaggeration (ghuluw) in the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), because that indicates one of two things from which there is no escape: either a deficiency in the knowledge of those who are scholars among them, or a deficiency on the part of the scholars in conveying the truth to these common people who fall into major shirk (shirk akbar) and perhaps do not realize it. So it is obligatory for the scholars, whom Allah has entrusted with this and taken a covenant from them, to make it clear to the people and not conceal it, and to call people to the truth, and not to compromise in the religion of Allah, and not to be concerned with the consciences of ignorant people who know nothing of the truth, and let not them be affected by the blame of a blamer in the matter of Allah. And there is no harm in following the path by which the objective is achieved, even if it takes a long time; rather, this may become obligatory if there is no means closer than it. As for silence and leaving the common people as they are, agreeing with them and accompanying them in this matter, it is a matter to be regretted. The Muslim community will not stand until it returns, or more correctly, until it advances to what the righteous Salaf were upon: establishing the worship of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and sincerity to Him, and establishing the following of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and abandoning religious innovations (bid'ah). For indeed, no one will reform the end of this Ummah except what reformed its beginning.
I ask Allah to make us all among the people of righteousness and reform.

The questioner : Amen, amen. May you be rewarded with good, O honorable Shaykh, and may Allah bless you for what you have clarified for us.
