If the imam prostrates three times, should they follow him in the third prostration?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Yes, what was your question?

The questioner : This brother is asking, saying: The imam prostrated three times, so should they follow him in the third prostration?

The Shaykh : I will answer with a response: Do they follow him in the fifth or not? Whoever is convinced that they follow him in the fifth, then the fifth contains two prostrations instead of one. As for whoever does not follow even in the first prostration, it is said of him:
The Imam is to be followed إنَّما جُعِلَ الإمام لِيُؤتَمَّ به
Sahih al-Bukhari 1236
. Then, upon the one who wants not to follow him is to apply the command of his Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said:
if anything happens to you during prayer, the men should say” Glory be to Allah,” مَن نابه شيء في الصلاة فليسبِّح
Sunan Abi Dawud 941Sahih (Al-Albani)
. So, he must alert him. Here, I know that it is customary for the question to be raised: "My brother, I alerted him and he did not notice, and I saw him stand up for the fifth rak'ah and I said to him: 'Subhan Allah,' but he was stubborn and continued in his rak'ah." We say:
You are not over them a controller. لَسْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِمُصَيْطِرٍ
[Al-Ghashiyah 88:22]
. It is possible that you are the one who is mistaken, so what is required of you is what? You must obey his command (peace be upon him):
Let him say the tasbih فليسبِّح
. So, say the tasbih. If he becomes aware, good; otherwise, you follow him. It is not permissible to separate from him except with the taslim, which is exiting the prayer. This is the answer, if Allah wills. Is it clear? Yes.
