What do you advise students of knowledge regarding the aspect of upbringing? And what is the correct path? And clarification of the knowledge that is obligatory for every Muslim to seek and act upon

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : There is a question.

The Shaykh: Go ahead.

The questioner : Our dear Shaykh, may Allah bless you, we know the methodology you extracted from the Noble Qur'an, which is the methodology of purification and upbringing. It is well known the role you have played in the aspect of purification, for you have presented a great deal. We ask Allah to benefit this Ummah through you. However, we see that many students of knowledge have neglected the aspect of upbringing. So what do you advise the brothers, the students of knowledge, in this regard? And what is the path you consider correct in applying this aspect? May Allah reward you with much good for us and for the Muslims.

The Shaykh : The aspect of upbringing is not carried out by one person, but by a very large group of Muslim scholars who take charge of teaching and raising the Muslims. And if I have presented any knowledge to the Muslim world, this is first a small effort, and second, the effort of an individual. What can this do in this vast world? There must be strong scholars, strong in their knowledge of Islam, its Book, Sunnah, jurisprudence, politics, and society, who take charge of raising the entire Muslim world on the solid foundation of purified Islam. Therefore, without holding me accountable, I do not approve of such a question, for what can I do? Rather, what can hundreds like me do in this great world? This reminds me of an issue I have often repeated, and still do, to many Muslims, including some of the elite relative to the common people, though they are not of the elite due to their deviation from the correct understanding. Many of these Muslims have relied on others and surrendered to this bad reality, and they have become desperate. They say, "There is no benefit; the Hour is about to occur, the Dajjal is about to emerge, the sun is about to rise from the west, and so on. There is no benefit. Let the Mahdi emerge and 'Isa (peace be upon him) descend." I say this is false speech. The point is in the following explanation: The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), who is the master of mankind, continued for twenty-three years until he was able to establish the foundation for the nascent Muslim state in al-Madinah al-Munawwarah. He was a Prophet. So the Mahdi is 'Isa if he is sent to this Ummah. And as mentioned in the reports I cited to you earlier, he will rule with justice. Does this mean that the Mahdi will reform the Muslim Ummah? No, he will find the Muslim Ummah in need of a leader to guide it. Because in some hadiths, it is mentioned that the Mahdi will remain for six, seven, or eight years. If the Messenger (peace be upon him) stayed with his people for twenty-three years and barely managed to place the nucleus of the Muslim state in al-Madinah, what will the Mahdi achieve? Is the Mahdi better, and he is not revealed to, or 'Isa, who is also not revealed to with the revelation that was revealed to him, and he is a Messenger to the Children of Israel? I understand from all these prophecies of the coming of the Mahdi and the descent of 'Isa and the spread of justice, even in some hadiths
The prostration in the time of 'Isa will be better for the believer than the world and what is in it, until the wolf grazes with the sheep and the lion with the sheep. تكون السجدة في زمن عيسى للمؤمن خير من الدنيا وما فيها حتى الذئب يرعى مع الغنم والأسد مع الغنم
and so on, that it is something beyond what people imagine. Will this happen in just a few years? And the Muslim world now, as you see it, numbers in the millions. The meaning of my words is that it is obligatory for Muslim scholars, first, to be truly scholars, second, to be sincere to Allah, and third and finally, to take charge of educating and raising the Muslims. As for me, or anyone else, we are lost individuals in this sea of millions; they do nothing.
Therefore, the summary of the answer is that every person must do what he is able to. You, O Muslim, are not a scholar, but it is not permissible for you to remain ignorant of what you are obligated to know and learn. So you must act upon His saying (Glorified and Exalted is He):
So ask the people of the message if you do not know. فَاسْأَلُوا أَهْلَ الذِّكْرِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
[An-Nahl 16:43]
If you know the Shari'ah ruling, then you must act upon this ruling. And so you ascend from the common people to the students of knowledge to the scholars. All these Muslims are thus obligated, each according to his capacity, to learn, and then each according to his capacity is obligated to act upon what he has learned. Do the Muslims today, meaning the common Muslims and those above them, adhere to the Shari'ah rulings? The answer is no. So it is far from the establishment of the Islamic group, which is the nucleus for establishing the Muslim state, or the army that prepares itself to receive its leader, who is the Mahdi or his like, for we do not know
these days [of varying conditions] We alternate among the people تِلْكَ الْأَيَّامُ نُدَاوِلُهَا بَيْنَ النَّاسِ
[Ali 'Imran 3:140]
we do not know when the Mahdi will emerge. So the matter here is as He said (Glorified and Exalted is He):
And say, "Do [as you will], for Allah will see your deeds, and [so, will] His Messenger and the believers. And you will be returned to the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, and He will inform you of what you used to do."
[At-Tawbah 9:105]
So it is upon each of us to do what he can. I have a little knowledge that I present to people, but this knowledge does not benefit me if I do not act upon it. You, a student of knowledge, must act upon what you learn. It is not necessary that you be a scholar, it is not necessary now that you be a scholar, but you have knowledge to a certain extent, so you must act upon it. And so you descend to the common man who knows that Allah has obligated upon him five prayers in every day and night. Do most of these Muslims, who number in the millions, pray? The answer is no. Why? Because they do not know that the prayers are five of the obligations? They know. So it is upon us, each according to his capacity, to engage in purification and upbringing. And carrying out purification is not the work of an ordinary person, without doubt, but it is the work of people whom Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has chosen with many and very many qualities, the first of which is beneficial knowledge, followed by righteous action. This is my answer. And perhaps we will suffice with this session now, and tomorrow, if Allah wills, we will conclude, if Allah wills. Yes.
