What is the ruling on fasting on Saturday if it coincides with the Day of Ashura?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Welcome, welcome, how are you? Welcome. It is authentically reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
Do not fast on Saturday except for what has been made obligatory upon you (by Allah). لا تصوموا يوم السبت إلا فيما افترض الله عليكم
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 744Hasan (Darussalam)
, so if Saturday coincides with a day of virtue, such as the Day of 'Arafah, the Day of Ashura, or the like, it is not to be fasted, because he (peace be upon him) said:
apart from days when you are obliged to fast إلا فيما افترض عليكم
Sunan Ibn Majah 1726Hasan (Darussalam)
. The example is that all Muslims know that fasting on Monday and Thursday is among the best fasting, and the Messenger (peace be upon him) was consistent in doing so. But if Monday coincides with a festival, or Thursday coincides with a festival, it is not to be fasted. Why? Because it is forbidden to fast on the day of a festival, and likewise it is forbidden to fast on Saturday. So if Saturday coincides with a day of virtue, the prohibition takes precedence over the virtue, just as the prohibition of fasting on the day of a festival takes precedence if it coincides with Monday or Thursday. Is that clear?

The questioner : Is that clear?

The Shaykh : So it is not permissible to make a correction, and it is said.
The student: Peace be upon you.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace, welcome.
The student : How are you, my professor? Well, I hope you are well, if Allah wills?

The Shaykh : Welcome, may Allah give you health.
The student : May Allah keep you safe, may Allah accept your obedience.

The Shaykh : May Allah accept your obedience.
The student : May Allah bless you, O our Shaykh.

The Shaykh : May Allah keep you safe.
The student : May Allah preserve you.

The Shaykh : Welcome.
The student: Peace be upon you.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. So, if Monday coincides with a festival, it is not to be fasted; the prohibition takes precedence over the virtue. Likewise, if Saturday coincides with a day of virtue, such as 'Arafah, for example, or Ashura, the prohibition takes precedence, so it is not correct to say in the hadith:
Do not fast on Saturday except for what has been made obligatory upon you (by Allah). لا تصوموا يوم السبت إلا فيما افترض الله عليكم
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 744Hasan (Darussalam)
, and "except" alone, because that would be a correction of the words of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).

The questioner : And likewise Friday, O our Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Likewise, it is not to be fasted except by fasting with it on Thursday.

The questioner : Yes.
