If a man says to his brother, “By Allah, you will eat,” and he intends that he will eat a full meal, but he only eats one bite, does he break his oath or not?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : ... to his brother, “By Allah, you will eat,” and he intends that he will eat a full meal. If the one upon whom the oath was made eats only one bite, does the one who swore break his oath or not?

The Shaykh : He breaks his oath.

The questioner : Yes, O our Shaykh.

The Shaykh : He breaks his oath if he intended that. So he must tell him, so that he does not break his oath, and make it clear to him that it is not enough to eat one bite, but rather he must eat his fill. If he does not do so, that means he has broken his oath.
