The Meaning of "Ameen" and What Is Best to Recite After al-Fatihah in the Five Daily Prayers

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : When one finishes al-Fatihah, what does he say?
He says: Ameen.
The meaning of Ameen is: O Allah, accept it. It is a noun of command meaning "accept."
Then he recites a surah after that, which should be:
In Maghrib, usually from the short surahs of al-Mufassal.
In Fajr, from the long surahs of al-Mufassal.
And in the rest, from the medium surahs.
Al-Mufassal begins with Qaf and ends with: Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind. It is called al-Mufassal because of the abundance of its endings.
The long surahs of al-Mufassal are from Qaf to 'Amma.
And the medium surahs are from 'Amma to al-Duha.
And the short surahs are from al-Duha to the end of the Qur'an.
In Maghrib, one usually recites from the short surahs of al-Mufassal, in Fajr from the long ones, and in the rest from the medium ones.
There is no harm, indeed it is a recommended practice (sunnah) for a person to sometimes recite from the long surahs of al-Mufassal in Maghrib. It is authentically reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he recited al-Tur and al-Mursalat in Maghrib.
