Does the imam say: (Ameen) after reciting al-Fatihah?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And this is exactly similar to another hadith, which is also in "Sahih al-Bukhari." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said in some of the hadiths: إنما جُعِلَ الإمام ليُؤتمَّ به ، فإذا قال : غير المغضوب عليهم ولا الضالين ؛ فقولوا : آمين The imam was made to be followed, so when he says: "Not those upon whom Your anger is invoked, nor those who go astray," then say: "Ameen". If we stop at this hadith alone and look at its apparent meaning, we would take from it that the imam does not say:
Ameen آمين
. Many of the Maliki school, both old and new, say this, sticking rigidly to the apparent meaning of the hadith; because he said:
When the Imam says: 'Ghair-il-Maghdubi `alaihim Walad-Dallin
Sahih al-Bukhari 4475
. He did not say "Ameen," but rather said: إذا قال : غير المغضوب عليهم ولا الضالين فقولوا أنتم : آمين When he says: "Not those upon whom Your anger is invoked, nor those who go astray," then you say: "Ameen". However, it is not appropriate to take the ruling on the imam's saying "Ameen," whether negative or affirmative, from this hadith alone. Rather, it is appropriate to link it with another narration from the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), which is agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim, namely his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
When the Imam says Amin, say Amin, for if anyone’s utterance of Amin synchronnises with that of the angles, he will be forgiven his past sins.
Sunan Abi Dawud 936Sahih (Al-Albani)
. In that case, the first narration: وإذا قال : غير المغضوب عليهم ولا الضالين فقولوا : آمين And when he says: "Not those upon whom Your anger is invoked, nor those who go astray," then say: "Ameen" must be combined with the addition in the other narration. So we say in its interpretation: And when the imam says:
not of those who have evoked [Your] anger or of those who are astray.
[Al-Fatihah 1:7]
Ameen; then you say: Ameen. This is the method of reconciling the hadiths. And by that, it becomes clear to us that the follower says with the imam:
Allah hears whoever praises him, our Lord and praise belongs to You.
Muwatta Malik 3:17
. And likewise, the imam says:
Ameen آمين
just as the followers say. But the followers only follow the imam in all his recitations, remembrances, and transitions, and they do not precede him in any of that.
Then say "Ameen"
The apparent meaning of the hadith is that it is obligatory. Yes?

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : And what is the meaning of the first question? - May Allah guide you - and the answer is what you heard; the apparent meaning of the command in his saying (peace be upon him):
Then say: "Ameen"
is that it is obligatory. Then, what rational person, even if this command were only for recommendation, what rational person who is eager to obtain the forgiveness of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) with the least effort and the least fatigue and toil would turn away from reaching the forgiveness of his Lord (Blessed and Exalted is He) merely by saying after the imam says
Ameen آمين
Ameen آمين
? The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said - as you heard - :
When the Imam says Amin, say Amin, for if anyone’s utterance of Amin synchronnises with that of the angles, he will be forgiven his past sins.
Sunan Abi Dawud 936Sahih (Al-Albani)
. So if a Muslim spent his long life, even if it were the life of Noah (peace be upon him), in the path of reaching the forgiveness of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), the price would be a bargain. How much more so, since the human being among us, no matter how long he lives, does not exceed one hundred years? So if in these one hundred years he strives and toils to attain the forgiveness of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), what could its price be but a little? For this reason, we advise every Muslim to be eager to follow the imam's recitation of al-Fatihah. So when he says "Ameen," he follows him in saying:
Ameen آمين
.
This is what is said regarding the last question.
