What is your advice for students of knowledge?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : In your visits, O Shaykh, to the city of Jeddah, what are your observations and advice for students of knowledge?

The Shaykh : My advice is:
First: that they intend by seeking knowledge to act upon it, and that they be sincere to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in seeking it, and that their seeking of knowledge not be for boasting, envy, or anything similar to those meanings that are not prescribed.
The second thing: that I have felt the care of our brother students here for knowledge and their rushing to acquire it by the fastest route, which led me to remind them on some occasions to be polite in their seeking of knowledge. It is not politeness to jostle, butt heads, or race in order to reach and enter the place of gathering to seek knowledge. So they should walk slowly and not rush in that; because the Sunnah is that a person should not walk in a manner that disturbs others, but rather he should walk with tranquility and dignity. And if this is a manner explicitly mentioned regarding a man’s walking to prayer where there is no crowd on the road and the road is wide, he said (peace and blessings be upon him):
When you come to prayer, come to it with tranquility and dignity, and do not come to it while rushing. Whatever you catch, pray, and whatever you miss, complete. إذا أتيتم الصلاة ؛ فأتوها وعليكم السكينة والوقار ، ولا تأتوها وأنتم تسعون ، فما أدركتم فصلُّوا ، وما فاتكم فأتمُّوا
. This noble Prophetic manner, although it came on the occasion of one heading to prayer, I see that students of knowledge must also adhere to this manner when they go out to seek knowledge or gather to seek knowledge. And based on that, they should not jostle, let alone butt heads in order to be early in attending the circle of knowledge.
In conclusion: I ask Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) to inspire us and you with the path of knowledge by the correct way and the sound method, and to grant us success to act upon what He has taught us, and to increase us in knowledge.
Yes, please go ahead.
