Advice for scholarship students.

Question:
The questioner: His Eminence the Shaykh (may Allah preserve him) says that we are internal scholarship students. We testify to Allah that we love you for the sake of Allah, and we seek from you supplication for this blessed university, and at its head its honorable director and its staff, for they have not fallen short with us, the scholarship students. They have equipped us with beneficial knowledge and armed us with what is derived from the Book and the Sunnah. This is my request of your Eminence. And my question is: How do you direct us, the scholarship students, when we return to our countries, knowing that there are groups and factions in them that are not sound?

Answer:
We remind you of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (And it was not for the believers to go forth all together). This means seeking knowledge; they are not able for all of them to come to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), nor to the scholars after him. It is not possible for all of them to come. But: (Then why did not there go forth from every group among them a party to gain understanding in religion and to warn their people when they return to them, that perhaps they will guard themselves?). So what you have learned in this university and in others of the truth, you do not restrict it to yourselves, but convey it to others in your countries. You are callers to Allah; you are ambassadors of the call to Allah (Mighty and Majestic). If these visitors for the sake of seeking knowledge, after they learn and return to their countries, carry out what Allah has commanded them of conveying this knowledge to the people of their countries and those around them, then good will spread and extend, efforts will combine, Muslims will cooperate, good will be achieved, and falsehood will be contained. There is no doubt that your coming to these lands or other lands of the Muslims for the sake of seeking knowledge is a great obligatory duty. But do not restrict it to yourselves; rather, when you return, illuminate your countries by the call to Allah, teaching tawhid (the oneness of Allah) and the correct creed, and forbidding religious innovations and newly invented matters, so that Allah may benefit through you, and good may spread through your hands, and you may be a cause for the salvation of your countries and the salvation of everyone for whom Allah wills guidance. The means are facilitated, praise be to Allah, for spreading this call.
